Well. If the over farming continues the way it does and things get nerfed like Griffons then the way I see it is like...
Farming will be altogether not worth it as 90% of all good farming spots will be nerfed one way or another. This will mean 80% of farmers wont farm. This will also mean that there will be less money floating around the game. Items will all first rise in price as there are fewer people farming them. But when these farmers realise that they cant get there over inflated prices they will crash. Things will either go stupidly high and bottom out or they will be cheap enough to get the non-farmers to buy them.
I dont think it will come to this. An online econemy always sorts itself out in the end. But, it is very hard to tell over 1 million different gamers that they have to slow there farming down ANet will sort something out before it every reachs this. They will probably kick the SHEEP right out of the game (Nerfing the actual build not the places they use it).

Just a quick question because I cannot check (working). Did they also nerf the griffon's to the north of Augury? If not that is the next bot farming spot. The trolls are another possibility.
UW is bot-able but not by most people. The time and effort to do that would not be worth it. The goal of a sweat shop is fast and repeatable and cost effective. The 1K per entry to work out a bot could get expensive and the fact that it is a much longer run without any guaranteed success (ecto) would be drawbacks.

There are many Griffons that have escaped the "Nerf" monster MWAHAHA! It is stupid to kick every Dester Griffon out of the game. So, there will be some around. Just in places further afoot.

So. You spend 1k to enter and get 15% of your "Bot" mapped. You die.. Its not worth keeping that "Bot" as you died. Delete that one. You spend another 1k to get 30% of the "Bot" done. But you die again while working onit. You delete that.. And so on and so forth. You would spend an enormous amount mapping it with your "Bot" and you would have to have an enormous amount of will power to be able to have the patience with it. Like you said, people want fast results sitting in there sweet shop This would take them to much time.
I highly dought it that there are no other "Bots" running in other places but keeping it to them selves. The other thing ANet could do is flood Ebay with fake sellers. I used to play Runescape and they did the exact same thing there. All the Ebay posts saying selling the money in that world where all set up and would not actually sell you anything. This made me stop buying it as I never trusted any of the sellers. If ANet where to do this I am sure it would discourage alot of people.
But I am sure they have their own plans

Oo are they allowed to do that? i mean saying: "im selling this and that for 999$ and at the end they do not sell you anything? or do they give it to you and take it again? cause i think they will have to complete the trade before taking the money again dont they?
i know that all the money and the items a property of ANet so that should not be the problem.. but do they have to complete the trade first before taking it away again? ^^
xD actually i think its a cool thing! though it will not help too much.. cause there are still shops out there that cannot be flooded with fake offers

Unfortunately, that doesn't happen every time.
This is why I am waiting for factions to come out. Maybe they will resolve the gameplay issues in PvE by adding more non-boring content.

Of course they can do that but its agaisnt the law (I think). Accepting money for something and not giving your share of the deal is theft. And seelling or even buying anything from Ebay is against ANet's terms and conditions. But lets not get too off topic here :P

I do agree. Farming is/was brought around when people couldnt do anything more when they beat the game. Naturally making money was the answer. When Factions is released farming in the first Guild Wars will be significantly reduced as everyone will be playing Factions. I hope this will sort out over farming area's for a good few months atleast

I am both glad and upset to see the Griffon farm nerfed.
On one side of the coin it stops the huge amount of bots going there and encourages people to go farm in other areas which may actually take some skill to do.
The other side is that while I like to farm more challenging areas for fun the drops eleswhere in the world have been very poor for me. Griffons were the only place I could reliably find rare items. Chests are not worth the price of the key anywhere in IMO.
If Anet wants to nerf the easy farm spots thats fine by me as long as they reward the players with decent items for playing challaging areas.

I hadnt looked at it like that untill now. Very well said. Althought, it is fun going to kill some pretty basic monsters from time to time. I also enjoy a more challenging area. And yes, chest drops are never worth the key 50% of the time.
But, if you look at the huge number of people who where actually farming Griffons. Over 60% of them where the SHEEP (55 monks, necros). And that in its self is NO CHALLENGE what so ever. So, now they will obviously go somewhere else and continue to do what they always have.

i farmed the queen for 5 times , got the staff , sold for 80k, no-one had it yet, was this morning , no-one selling bet i was one of the first. pretty nice for 1 hour of farming, would it be possible to make warrior team with 4 warriors , everyone take sprint , run to queen and kill her ? sounds stupid but with interrupting skills etc...

i dont know who else knows about this but although the griffons were great for farming i.e. upgrades, gold weapons, gold there is an alternative! recently i wanted to get the collectors bow (15^50) and i needed topaz crests. i took my 55 monker over to the sand drakes and fought them came back with the exact same amount of gold just a thought...

At least it drops a bonus, and this game is called guild wars, not solo everything, the point is the game is directed at team play. Soloing is an art in itself which will keep evolving. UW was made to be a place to be farmed with 8 people, not 2, if they nerf it at some point then so be it. I love solo farming, I love dual farming, but the game I play I put in the hands of Anet and its developers, they know what they are doing. I support the way they have run this game since day 1.

The simple solution to keep players interested and rewarding them is to make more of the quests (like the defending vs titans quests) to drop items with cool skins and unique bonuses. They have many of these early game but they are subpar items. Producing them as quest rewards late game would make it more enticing to do said quests.

as said before.. farming shouldnt be "I WANT MORE MONEY MUAHAHA IM A GREEDY NOOB AND I WANT MOOOORE (THOUG HI DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH ALL THAT MONEY)" thing, but a "cool i found a new item i can use.. wow cool xD i rock!!" thats why i did farming atleast.. and really.. if u farm for money u will find more items you can use yourself than money to buy those.. until you got the money for a cool item you want to buy u can easily find it yourself.. and actually i think giving us that green drop was a good idea! should be more of that, though all running around with the same weapon actually sux.. thats why griffon farming shouldnt be NERFed but the chance of getting new items should be INCREASED and WOW prices go DOWN!! omg cool and prices will go that down that nobody will buy anything but tryin to get those items by themselfs!
I'M FOR:
INCREASE THE DROP SO THAT IT IS POSSIBLE FOR EVERYONE TO GET A COOL RARE SKIN GOLD DROP! OMG!

If you really want to get rich, run from Amnoon to Augury Rock for tips, my last run, a guy gave me a max damage green hammer. Now I use that instead of my axe.

I agree with many of you here.
I farm for two reasons
-Fun getting cool items and stuff I can use
-Gold
If there were OTHER things to do, I wouldn't farm. Personally I can't farm for more than an hour (that's farming solo). It gets way too boring.
What I would really like to see is better rewards for quests. I remember when I first started playing GW, I played for hours on end, doing nothing but quests and missions. Now I don't do that anymore, because once you hit lvl 20 and have already beat the game, what's the point in doing anything else? XP at lvl 20 is pretty much pointless. Sure you get skill points, but when you have 165 skill points banked, like me, even that becomes unecessary.
Let's say you get an awesome item, be it a weapon for your primary profession, from doing all the titan quests. I mean a bad-ass sword, if you're a war. I wouldn't go and buy it for 100k +55 ectos, instead I would do the quests and get my awesome reward for it. XP at lvl 20? Eh that isn't a reward anymore.
If ANet really wants to stop farming, they should improve rewards for quests. Whether it be gold (no not 50 gold) or awesome weapons, that will get me back into it.
Sometimes I'd rather not farm. But to think of it, how does one go about getting 15k armor? or even 1.5k armor? The only choice is to farm, there really isn't any other way to make gold.
